The clip should now be standing straight up with just the bottom tips in the connectors. No tools required to insert new filter. There are two push-pull clips attaching the filter to the fuel line. If the fuel comes out with no pressure, then that is an indication that the pump is getting weak and will be ready to replace. The valve can be located by removing the air cleaner.
